ACCIDENTS.
On Thursday morning Mrs Hill, wife of Mr John Hill of Te Rapa, met with n serious accident which might have terminated fatally. It appears that Mrs Hill was endeavouring to separate some cattle in the stockyard when she was charged by a shorthorn bull and knocked down. The animal continued to rush Mrs Hill while she was lying on the ground, when her son aged about 12 beat him off with a piece of fencing wire and so rescued his mother from her perilous position. l)r Murch was at once sent for, and on his arrival he found that Mrs Hill had one rib broken and was severely bnii.-eil all over. Dr Murch did his best for the sufferer, and although the injuries are serious, they are not expected to have a fatal result. Great credit is due to the little boy for his presence of mind in facing the bull and driving him away from his mother.
Mrs L. B. Ewen. on Thursday afternoon, while opening a gate, was thrown from her horse. It appears that in trying to unfasten the gate tho saddle slipped round, and the animal commencing to buck, threw Mrs Ewen off, bnt she escaped with slight injuries, only receiving a stvnined ankle.
