The above board met at Hewitt's Criterion llote], Cambridge, at 2,30 p.m. on Saturday. l > r* > : Messrs 1' orrest (voted tn fclio chair), Pickering, Paton, and Kallender. The minutes of tho previous meeting were read and confirmed. O<>MN,AINT3.—Mr A. Clements wrote, calling the attention of the board to the bad stato of the road from Mr J. Brown's, to the coiner ot his property near Mr Butler's. lln suggested that a culvert should be put in.—Mr Forrest moved that tlie work be done, under his supeivision.— Carried. LUG.U, FuOUEKDIXIiiS Tint KATUN El I.— Mr John Arnold wrote that, ho much regretted having again to call Hie attention of the board to damage done to his property by the water turned on to it. The lata heavy rains had washed away his fences an.i drains, doing considerable damage ; and if some agreement was not come to, ho should he. compelled to institute legal proceedings. Mr Korre-t said be did not know if the board felt inclined to go back on what they had decided at previous meeting-'. Considerable damage had undoubtedly been done to Mr Arnold's property and also to the river road, but it was in consequence of Mr Arnold having made a deviation of the drain. The water formerly spread over a portion of Mr Arnold's land and gradually percolated away, but he having cut a. drain through into the river road, a gully about 200 yards lons,-10 feet broad, and HO to 80 feet.'deep, had been made, a portion of the road having been washed into the liver. Mr Kallender did not think the board had anything to do with tho damage to Mr Arnold's property. The Clerk said he understood that the drain from the road had been made years before Mr Arnold bought the property, and also that the natural watercourse was across the land. He had carefully searched tho records of board and could find nothing referring to the matter. Mr Forrest thought the board should enter a counter claim against Mr Arnold for damage done to the river road. It, was resolved to acknowledge the letter, and state that the board did not intend to depart fioin their previous decision; also to call Mr Arnold's attention Lo the damage done 11 the river mad.
