ILLI X G S G ATE, By Isaac Walton, dam Slander, by Traduc.tr: Isaac Walton by Dainty Ariel, out of Fanny Fisher, by Fisherman ; Dainty Ariel by Riddlesworth. His breeding is undeniably good. On liis dam's side he has the celebrated Traducer blood ; on his sire's he has Dainty Ariel by Riddlesworth, while Fanny Fisher is by the celebrated Fishermau. Billingsgate is a dark bay horse, with black points, standing 16 hands 2 inches, with plenty of bone and substance. He was bred by the late W. Walters, Esq., of Papakura. While on the turf he proved himself the fastest miler of his day. He stirted in 66 races, winning 32 ; second, 14; and third 10 times. The following are a few of the races Billingsgate ran as a four-year-old:—Christchurch Jockey Club, won Free Handicap, carrySst. Gibs., leading a field of 11—time, lm. 45secs. ; Ist Railway Plate, w.f.a., half mile, Bst. ; won Grand Stand Handicap, 1 mile, Sst. 61bs.—time, lm. 44secs. Christchurch Jockey Club, won Selling Race, miles, carrying Sst. 71bs.—time, 2min. 12secs. Billingsgate will travel the Waikato and surrounding districts where inducement offers.
