The Waikato Times AND THAMES VALLEY GAZETTE. equal and exact justice to all men, Of whatsoever state or persuasion, religious or political. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1889.
The Chairman of the Waikato Karmer's Club administered u very just rebuke to Mr T. Hicks for his uncalled for aspersion on the people of .Hamilton. Wo trust Mr Clark's remarks Mill not be lost upon those low unthinking persona, who, like Mr Hicks, are so prone to itnpnte improper motives to the actions of others when they happen to differ from their own narrow views and inclinations. _ Such persons are fond of aocnisiug the residents of Hamilton of seeking to aggrandise their district by every available means, fair or nnfaiv, at the expense of rest of the Waikato. Let it, be rrm.<;:'iered that nothing tbe Hamilton cau do or
leave undone can prevent the natural laws taking their course ; their town is uatui-ally situated to 1)0 the chief centre, of the Waikato basin, and were its inhabitants mora enterprising and more united they would have helped on the progress Nature has intended for it with greater energy. The prosperity and growth of Hamilton would be a sure indication of the general progress of the other townships and the whole surrounding district. Therefore, in place of displaying ill-feeling and jealousy towards the town it would be more to the credit of the Waikato, as an important district, to act harmoniously and unitedly in all public questions aiTectiug the common welfare.
