LECTURE AND CONCERT AT PATERANGI.
A goodly number of the residents of Pategathered in the Public Hall, on tile evening of the 2ord inst., to hear the Rev. T. G. Carr, of Hamilton, deliver his popular and instructive lecture on " Charles Kingsley." The lecturer had evidently made himself thoroughly master of his subject, and secured the close attention and genuine interest of his audience, as he skilfully traced the noble career of his hero in his varied capacity as pastor, preacher, author and social reformer. The lecture was interspersed with an excellent musical programme. A pianoforte duet, as an overture, was rendered by the Misses Germann and Scott, and Miss Germann and Mr George Hunter each contributed a sonp. The Rev. Mr Carr was to the fore also in this department, contributing two violin solos and two of Charles Kingsley's songs, Mr Patterson of Te Awamutu playing tha accompaniments. A collection on behalf of the Wesleyan funds, followed by a cordial vote of thanks to the lecturer and musicians brought a most enjoyable evening to a close.
