Thk police expedition, under Sergeant Gamble, was completely successful in arresting at Waiwera, the party of 'natives who abducted Mere Haungariri from Lucas' Creek. Tho prisoners were brought to Auckland on Tuesday, and appeared before Dr. Giles in the morning, charged with the olfence. The girl Met eis a good looking young woman of eighteen. She appeared greatly prostrated by her treatment, and whilst giving her evidence fainted several times. The accused were remanded, bail being allowed.
