RINK CARNIVAL AT CAMBRIDGE.

Thk plain and fancy dress rink carnival at Cambridge eventuated on Wednesday evening, and, as wo briefly announced in our last issue, was a most unqualified success. Upwards of fifty ladies and gentlemen wore fancy dresses and the hall presented a very pretty appearance as the rinkers gyrated about. Never before, in our memory, has Cambridge produced so many and such pretty dresses, both as regards quality and variety. Many of the ladies were very tastefully attired and looked captivating; the gentlemen were also well to the fore, the gut up of some of them being immense. There was, however, one thing that militated against the enjoyment of both rinkers and spectators, and that was the wretched lighting of the hall. This is a matter that the Borough Council should look to, for on Wednesday evening it was in a stale -•>! semi-darkness. Tho following is a list of those attired in fancy dress costumes: — Miss Webber, Spanish Dancing Girl ; Miss Bright, Spring: Miss Moon, Night; Miss B. Messrs Chambers and Souter deserve a word of praise for the courteous manner in which they arranged matters, the former making an excellent M.C. _________
