POLITICAL NOTES.
(BY TKLEfiIIA I'll.—OWN COUIiIiSI'OXnUNT.) W KLMNGTON, Wednesday. opposition caucus.
Tli". Opposition held a meeting this morning, presided mer by Mr J. Ilillano-, at which a resolution was I, expressing approval r.f Mr B.dlance's leader•ship of t-lio party during tlm session, ft \v:is ids i decided that politied meetings should Ijo. hold dining tins recess by tho Opposition leader wherever Ins thought it desirable tii do so. A further resolution was carried that Ma' Ballance should move on going into Committee of Supply that il is desirable a dissolution of Parliament should take place at tlm close of the present session, and tho new Parliament should be summoned to meet as soon after the close of the present financial year as possible. TI-IK LATEST MOVE. Mr Ballance took tho earliest opportunity this afternoon of giving notice of motbn to intercept supply. The motion was received with some cheering by the Opposition as well us counter cheers by Ministerialists. It is perfectly well-known of course that the Opposition, as a body, have 110 desire for a dissolution which would reduce the House by 21 members. I understand the whole thing was simply meant to cut the ground from under the feet of the Government, it having frequently been asserted this session that Ministers meant to dissolve during the recess. Whether such is their intention or not, the Government will not submit to have a dissolution forced on them hy Mr Ballance and his party and they will consequently resist the amendment to the utmost. Nobody expects for a moment that the amendment will be agreed to by the House.
