Peacock took a place, but failed to increase the score. The ball was then kept in Huntly's 25 for some time, when Sampson dashed across the lino and .secured ft second try. Peacock took the kick but failed to increase the score. Huntly again kicked off, and the forwards took the ball into Te Aroha's 25, but it was soon taken back again by a rush headed by Peacock. Walsh then mado a grand run, and got another try, but on taking the ball out, O'Neill marked and touched the ball on the line, which is illegal, and therefore the kick at goal was not allowed. Peacock kicked olt for Te Aroha, the ball being returned by Marshall. T.darken, on getting the ball, ran along the boundary line, but was collared by Smith, who full under Clarken, and was winded, and had to be carried off the field. Huntly thus played one man short during the rest of the game. Clarken then took the ball into Huntly's 25. Marshall relieved his side by punting. Peacock dribbled the ball into Huntly's 25, and Lynch, following up well, dashed across the line, securing the first try in the second spell. From the kick out the ball was kept at half-way for some time, till O'Connor made a grand run, and secured another try. Peacock again took the kick, and landed a splendid goal. From this too the end of the game the ball was kept in Huntly's quarters. Some foul play on the part of the Huntly forwards enabled Te Aroha to take a free kick. Peacock took the kick, but no goal resulted from it. Soon afterwards time was callcd, tho ball being in Huntly's 25, the score standing, Te Aroha 11, Huntly 1. For the Huntly team L. Harris and T. Connolly did roost of the back work, while J. Harris and Bailey woro boat among the forwards. T. and J. Clarken and Peacock did most of the work among the forwards for Te Aroha, while Morgan, Sampson and Walsh played best behind. Messrs Carter and Power acted as umpires for Huntly and Te Aroha, respectively, and Mr F. < laudin acted as referee, and gave general satisfaction. We regret to record a most unfair display of partisanship on the part of a number of spectators, who, not content with applauding the victors, were continually jeering, and on one occasion hooted tho Huntly men, who deserve great praise for the plucky way in which they played an up-hill game.
