(by TELKGIIAFH. —OWN COHUKSrONDEN'X). AUCKLAND, Wednesday. A large number of Presbyterians went to the wharf to sea Professor Rainey off by the mail steamer. The ilocal Rugby Union have arranged with Lecky, McLean, and Madigan, to go and join with the Auckland football team, they leave to-inorrovv morning. The two farmer are intended to strengthen the forward division, and Madigan takes the. place of Jervis, who returns home after tho Dunedin match. The selectors of the team are condemned for their bad choice of forwards. Captain reports all the provisions depots at the Kerinadecs were visited and found intact, despite reports circulated by passing whalers that they had been rifled by another whaleship crew. The Kauri Timber Company received advice of the satisfactory sale of their first shipment of timber to Glasgow, which has fetched an all round price of 2s Gd per cubic foot. This gives a very good return.
