The Waikato Times Office, Friday. WAIKATO LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mn W. J. Hunter reports : At Hamilton, on 20th August, there was a full muster of cattlo ; bidding was slack unless, for young cattle, which made fully Ohaupn prices. Not many horses entered, and little demand unless for working horses. At Cambridge. on Saturday, only dairy cows yarded. Nearly ail sold at fair prices. A large quantity of produce was disposed of; not many horses brought forward. There was a {rood demand for working horses and all sold and more could havo been placed. Prices were : —Dairy cows at calving, £3 to £3 15s ; backward springers, £2 7 s to £2 15s; potatoes, Gs to 6s 6d per bag ; cheese, 4.W per lb; bacon, Gd to fi.'d ; fowls, 9d to 2s Gd each; saddles, £1 5s to £110s; dray, £8 13s Gd : ponies, £1 5s to £3 ; riding horses, £4 to £G 15s; plough horses, £5 5s to £10 10s. At Ohaupo, on Tuesday, not so many cattle as usual brought forward, and many of those native cattle and very rough, lowconditioned animals. A large number of young cattle were very choice and sold well; dairy cows were in excess of requirements and many remained unsold. Beef cattle were well represented and a large number sold. Very few fat aheep yarded and sold at fair prices Dairy cows, £2 10s to £3 2s 6d ; backward springers, £2 to £2 15s ; wellbred steers, calves and yearlings, 24s to 255; heifer calves, 12s Gd to 15s; mixed sexes, 13s to lGs ; well-bred I.J and 2-yr-old steers, £1 los to £2 2s; 4-yr-old steers, nearly beef, £4 to £4 15s ; thin cows, £1 to £1 ss; fresh turnip cows, £1 10s to £2 7s fid ; fat cows and heifers, £2 15s to £4 ; fat wethers, 14s ; fat ewes, lis £)d; fat hoggets, 10-i. I have also disposed of privately through the week : Farm waggon, £28 ; 80 bags feed oats, 3s per bushel; 5 tons chaff, £3 10s per ton ; dairy of cows to calvo in October at £3 per head ; 12 fat cows, £310s; 48 very fresh, well-bred steers, 3 and 4 years old at satisfactory prices to vendors.

AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKETS. Messrs. A. Buckland and Sous' Weekly Report.—At the Haymnrket duiing the past week fodder has brought from 2s 9d to 4s thecwt: chaff, £215s to £4 ; bonedust, £6 10s to £7 the ton : oats, 3s : maize, 2s 8d to 3s the bushpl. On Friday, horse •stock were in demand at an advance over late values, prices for heavy draught ranging from £18 to £24 ; medium draught, £5 f>s to £10 10s ; and riding horses up to £15 each. On Tuesday both hides and skins wore in large quantity, and fully kept late values. Ox hides brought from 2Ad to 2Jd; calfskins, 3d to 4|d the lb ; bones" 4s (id : tallow, 10s 9d and 17s tho civt; butchers' sheep skins, 3s lOd to 6s 2d each. At Remueia, on Thursday, dairy cows near profit were numerous ; prices ranged from £2 to £5 each. Store cattle in good inquiry. Three-year-old steers, in fresh condition, £3 10s. Two-year-olds, £2 12s ; dry cows, from 25s to 45s ; yearling heifers, 12s each. l"'at calvee plentiful at late values. Fat cattle short of requirements, sold irregularly, but on the whole were better worth. Prices ranged from 16s to 18s the lOOlbs. Sheep also short of usual numbors, were firm at last week's values, anil a few early lambs brought from 12s to 14s each. Pigs were in moderate numbers and of good quality, and sold satisfactorily.

Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weeklt Retort.—Grain, horse feed, seeds, &c. : The supply has been ample, and the demand fairly good for best sorts ; but faulty grain and hay, lacking sweetness, have been comparatively neglected. There remains an unsatisfied demand for good clover hay and prime oaten chaff. We quote: Oats, from 2s 8d to 3s 3d per bushel; maize, 2s lid ; bran, £5 to £5 10s per ton. Horses have been brought forward in increased numbers, and there has been a steady demand. If yeung and of good stamp they found ready purchasers at improved values. An average number was submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Competition was steady throughout the sale, and nearly all offered changed hands. We quote : Hacks, from £4 10s to £15 10s ; light harness horses, from £5 to £13 os; medium draught, £(i 12s (id to £IG. Wools, hides, skins, &c. : Rather more hides and skins than usual were pitched, and a small quantity of wool. Bidding was brisk throughout the sale. We quote: Heavy ox hides, from 3d to 4.(d per lb ; medium, 2; ( 'd to 3.', d ; cow, 2d to 2'jd ; calfskins, 3d to 4id per lb ; sheepskins, from 3s Id to Gs 4d each; washed wool, in bags, Ogd per lb; greasy, OJd to "i[d per lb; bones, £4 13s per ton; tallow, 12s to IGs Gd per cwt. Cattle : The supply of store and fat have not been sufficient for the demand. Dairy cattle, although brought forward in limited numbers, were not wanted, and sold at low values. There was but a limited muster at Newmarket on j Tuesday, but there was a good one at Papakura on Wednesday, although the wet weather kept back several lots. The demand noticed last week for fat and store stock has continued, prices for first-class having an upward tendency, while for averafe it was firm. The demand for dairy cows was slack, and prices ruled in favour of the purchasers. We quote :—Calves, 12s to 17s cach ; yearling steers, IGs to 25s ; heifers, 20s ; eighteen-montli-old steers, £1 7s to £1 13s each ; grown steers, £2 5s to £4 each: dry cows, £1 to £2: dairy cows, from £2 10s to £4 17s (id ; fat beasts, ox ranged fr'nn 14s to 17s Gd per 1001b ; cows, 12s (i;l t.n 15s ; some averaged 17s j fat steers j worn £7 12s Gd, £7 2s (id, £G 18s Gd, £G 13s, £G ss, £(!, £5 12s, £5 10s ; cows, £4 15s, £4 \ 10s, £3 17s (id, and £3 2s Gd. Sheep: An i increased number were yarded on Tuesday i at, Newmarket. Competition was good throughout, at from Is 8d to 2s 2d per Sib ; wethers, from 14s 3d to IGs Gd each ; ewes, lis 3d to lis G'd ; mixed, lis to 15s Gd each ; spring lambs, lis Gd to 14s Od each. Pigs : Very few yarded, value unaltered.
