TROUT IN THE WAIPA RIVER.
Some years ago, when Mr J. M. Ceiling's piscatorial arrangements were in full swing, lie sent a small lot of trout to Mr Isaac Hodgson, of To Rore, to be liberated in one of the mountain streams rising in Firongia, and running through Mr Hodgson's farm ; we believe it is known as Baskeville Creek. For some time after these fish were occasionally to be seen in the temporary enclosure fixed up by Mr Hodgson for the purpose of preventing their departure down stream. This impediment after a time »vas cleared away by the various freshets occurring, and nothing more was seen of the lish until February last, when both Mr Hodgson and his sons frequently saw several fine trout disporting themselves in the shallows in the Waipa River at the mouth of this creek, and from the description of the size of the fish they would certainly woigh not much less that two pounds each.
