MuNicol reports: At Ohaupo, on Tuesday la.st, I had a fuller muster than usual of all classes of cattle, upwards of 500 head being yarded. With the exception of some of the beef, all sold at satisfactory prices : —Dairy cows, from £2 10s to £.'? 5s ; 20 yearling steers, Gordon, 2(Js ; 20 d.>., Haselir, 235; 20 do., Gordon, 20s; 13 do., Windsor, las ; 11 do., Gordon, 2i)s ; 12 do., Gordon, 21s ; 10 IA-yr-old steers, 275, Hanmor ; 12 do., 31s, Hanmer ; 14 2-yr-old Steers, S'.h, Jas. At Hamilton, on Thursday, a smaller muster than usual, but nearly all yarded sold at Ohaupo values. At Waitoa, on Friday. Sold 9 cows for the Auckland Agricultural Company at £3 13s 9s; 4 steers, McDonald, £"> 19a; 2 cows, Waitoa Estate, £5 Is ; 23 steers, £y 11s; cows, Murray £2 17s (id ; 14 steers. £4 2s ; GO wethers, Annandale, Kis 6d; 40, do., Richmond Downs, Kis lid. During the last month I have disposed of privately to Hocken, Bros., ot Fielding, some 40 first-class light harness and draught mares and geldings and heavy draughts (unbroken), at prices satisfactory to vendors and in advance of any values during the last six months. They have been all very carefully selected by Mr H. Hocken, who left this district with them on Thursday morning for Fielding by way of Patea.
AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Messrs A. Buckland and Sons' Weekly Report.—At the Haymarkot, during tho past week prices of fodder have ranged from 3s to 3s i)d the cwt ; chaff, £310s to £4 the ton ; maize, 2s 10(1 to 3s ; nuts 2s 10,1 to 3s 2d ; wheat, 3s 3d the bushel ; potatoes, £3 5s to £4 10s the ton. On Friday lioise stock were in less number than visual ; those brought forward .sold freely at fully late values ; prices for strong working horses were from £12 to £15 ; medium, £3 to £7 ; a spring cart brought £14. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday hides were better woith ; ox hides brought up to 4d ; cows, 2.W to 2Jd ; calfskins, -id the lb ; tallow, 14s to ISs ; bones, Is (id the cwt ; butchers'skins, 4s to Gs 4d ; station skins, Is lOd to 4s 9d each ; wool, from 5d to 7ijd the lb. At the country cattle sales, held respectively at Pukekohe and Papakura, cattle were yarded more numerously than last month, and prices were firm. At Retime™, on Thursday, all descriptions of stock were in full numbers. Dairy cows at calving ranged from £3 to £4 12s (kl; young dry cows, from 25s to 4Gs ; old cows, from 12s to 17s ; lfMnontlis steers, 25s to 30s ; two to throe-year-steers. 45s to 47s (id ; three to four-year steers, £3 13s; calves, Sstoloseach. Fat cattle at last week's valuos. Steers, from 15s to 17s ; cows, 12s to 14s the 1001b. Fat wethers, 3d the lb, or from 14s to 17s each ; store wethers, 10s to 12s ; porkers, from 18s to 30i each. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report.—Horso feed, seeds, grain, &c. : The market has continued quiet, with little or no alteration in value. We quote : Feed oats, 3s to 3s 3d per bushel ; seed oats, 3s 3d to 3s (jd ; maize 3s ; bran, £5 10s per ton ; carrots, £2 to £2 5s per ton. Horses: Dullness has charactised the market. Au unusually small number was offered, and there was no change in value. Less than the usnal number wore entered for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards, and generally they were of inferior stamp. There remained an unsatisfied demand for good young horses of all descriptions. We quote : Hacks, at from £4 to £10 10s ; medium draught and light harness horses, £7 to £12 15s. Wool, hides, skins, &c. : Rather large quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. There was an active demand, and an upward tendency in value, particularly for ox hides. Wo quote : Long-wool, in bales, from 7*d to Sd per lb ; ox hides from 3Jd to 4. 1 , d ; cow, 2.Jd to 2JI ; calfskins, 3d to 4.jd per lb; sheepskins, 4s (id to Gs 3d each ; tallow, 12s to l(Js per cwt. Cattle : The demand for fat and storo cattle has been brisk, and prices have had an upward tendency, but dairy .stocks have been in weak demand. The Newmarket Yards were moderately supplied with all descriptions. Competition for grown steers and fat beasts ■was brisk, but. slow for dairy cows. Some averages of fat steers were £7 15s, £7 12s (id, £0 Ss, £1; 7s, £G os, £5 ISs ; cows £4 ss, £5 15s, £3 10s, £3 7s fid. Sheep were penned in limited numbers at Newmarket, on Tuesday, and were keenly competed for. Wethers sold at from 13s 9d to 17s Gd, ewes, 13s !)d to 15s !)d ; mixed, lis to 17s Gd. Pigs were in moderate supply, and sold readily at from 2id to 3d per lb, live weight.
