ROAD BOARD MEETINGS.
Taotaoroa Board. Tlirc above body met in the Piako County Offices at Cambridge, on Saturday at 11 ii.in. Present : .Messrs 1). J. Kalloniliir (chiiiriimii), H. J. Turner, C. M. and 11. It. Brunskill. Thk >'kw LJoao.— Mr Bayloy had told a member of the Uoiircl Unit lie could not gr.int leave for the proposed new track, for (.In; school children, to cross his paddocks ; but at the same tinio he had intimated that their children would niit bn interfered with if they went.across.—Mr C. M. lSrunskill mid that nr. the last meeting ho thought the* whole of the ratepayers were in favour of the road being made ; he had since met with two who objected to it, and he thought it had butter bo dropped. Nothing more was said about it. KuKXCir Pass Koad.—Mr C. M. JJrnnskill thought the road via French Pass to Taotaoroa should receive a little attention. No money had been spent upon it for years ; when it was made it was intended to bo the main road, and was four miles nearer than the, Uorton one. The portion of the road in their riding could be made good for £50, the French Pass being in the Cambridge- district.—The. Chairman pointed out that on Section 277 there was a s|iace of a bout five chains that had not been taken for the road, and consequently there was a break. It wa.s decided not to proceed with the matter until this question had been settled. Thk Main Roads.—Mr 0. M. Brunskill said the l'iako Council had taken over the control of nil the main roads, and ho congratulated the Board upon the amounts that had been placed upon the estimates to bo spent if required upon tho roads passing through their riding, viz., CambridgeOxford Road, £100; Oambridge-Tatiraiiga Road, £30!!.—Mr H. 11. Brunskill said the Council hart taken over the best roads, and would neglect them.—Mr Turner said the money was voted, "if required," but the Council knew it would not be lequired.— The Chairman said they (the Council) had taken the roads over, as an excuse to raise money ; if it had not been for that a \d rate would have sufficed. —A very animated discussion ensued, and Mr C. M. Brunskill intimated that he should resign, as his conduct as councillor did not appear to please the members of the Board. It was resolved to ask the County Council to gravel the whole of the main roads. Accounts. —The following accounts were passed:—G. Wattam, £8; T. Bruce, £3 5s ; collector of rates, £1 Is 2d. Balanujs.—The credit balance at the bank at date is £223 Os 3d. ■Resignation.—Mr C. M. Brunskill handed in his resignation, and the Clerk was instructed to take the necessary steps to till the vacancy.
