A WRONG THAT NEEDS REDRESS.

TO THE EDITOIi. Sut,—As I have failed to obtain justice from the Parliament of Now Zealand, I respectfully ask room in your columns for my statement, in hope that when my caso is understood by the public some member of the House of Representatives may bring it forward at some future time and obtain for me that which I consider is justly due to mei from the Government of the colony. At the time Sullivan was murdered by the Maoris I was one who was attacked and severely injured, losing thereby my land (which I had to mortgaged, a profitable drainage contract—which I had to give up — and eventually the sight of my right oye, besides suffering months of severe pain from my injuries. Dr. \Vaddington can bear mo out in thin. Others who received far slighter damage at the same time have been compensated, but in spite of repeated petitions to our law-makeis in Wellington L have obtained no relief, the reply to my last petition being that 1 had no claim on the colony. 5 hold that 1 havo a claim, that the (lovernment of the country, in granting an amnesty to those natives who attacked me, have thereby debarred me from taking lega! action against my wouldbe murderers, and have, consequently, taken the responsibility upon themselves. At ;'.ny rate I think that the majority of my fellow-colonists will feel with me that it is very liar;-! that a struggling settler should be placed in peril ot his life and ruined both in Dnckot and constitution, hindered by the (iovormuent from recovering damages from his aggressors, and then be coolly told that ho has no claim on the colony.—l am, &c, .Tajiks Lankv.
