FATAL ACCIDENT AT THE HUNT,

Ykstekday was the final meet of tho hounds in Waikato this season, and it wns marked by two serious accidents, one of which proved fatal. Tho meet was at Mr James Taylor's, at B vrdowie, and after refreshir.onls had been partaken of a start was made, a dnig having been laid over the firm. At the second fence Mr Charles Paton, who was riding Mr Pickering's chestnut mans Patch, fell, the inaro rolling over him. Ho was insensible when picked up, and Dr. Cushney was fetched, and he pronounced him suffering from concussion ot tho brain. He was conveyed to his father's house, at Hautapii, and when our reporter left, tho doctor who had rjoiK) thr.rn to examine him, had not returned. We fear ho is seriously injured. At the last fence but tmn Mr John Taylor, brother to Mr Jas. Taylor, and son of Mr W. J. Taylor, of Tainaki, met with an accident that caused his death. Ho was riding a young mare Queenie; she struck tho top rail of the fence, and turned completely over, falling upon the unfortunate young man. We fancy tho pummel of tho saddle must have caught his head, as tho frontal bone iva" completely crushed in. For about half a minute Mr Taylor was sensible, and asked whero his horse was, and then lapsed into unconsciousness and in about 10 minutes expired. Mr AHwill drove up with his buggy and conveyed the injured man to the house which was only about a a quarter of a mile distant bnt when they arrived ho had expired. Dr Cushney and Dr Moon were both present but could only certify that the young man was dead. Tho deceased was greatly respected and tho sad event has cast a gloom over tho whole district. The rink on Saturday night will not be opened as a mark of respect to deceased and his family. Dr Kenny was called last evening and proceeded to Hautupu to vi.~it Mr Paton, who now lies in a serious state.
