We have received a telegram from Wellington, informing us that the Now Zealand Times states it is Mr Balance's intention to prosecute The Waikato Timks for libel. We presume the proposed action of the honourable gentleman refers to an article in our issue of the 30th July, containing a report of the evidence given by Mr Grace before the Commission sitting at Kihikihi on the Maraeroa dispute. If this is so we may say we shall not shirk the issue. Our great desire is to do the State some service, and we believe it will be the meaus of bringing before the public gaze some of the iniquities perpetrated by the Native Department in its dealing with native affairs.
