NEWCASTLE ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held at tho office of the Board on Wednesday, the 14th mst., at 2 p.m. Present: Messrs Corboy (chairman), Corbett, Bycroft, Faxall and McKnight. Tho minutes of last meeting ware read and canfirmed. Correspondence sent and received was read. The following tenders were opened : —No. 1 contract, Shephord's road, ltd per yard, Edmond Rice, (accepted); formation, 2d per chain, 15. Rice (accepted): No. 2 contract, Crawford's road, Sd per yard, T. Jones (accepted); No. 3 contract, Rothwell's culvert, £5, E. Rico (accepted); No. 4 contract, road by Guests, 5d and 7d per yard, Grix and Matson (accepted); No. 5 contract, siding formation 12s Gd per chain, cutting Cd per yard, E. Rice (accepted) ; No. 6 contract, cutting lid per yard, formation 4s Cd per chain, side cutting 30s per chain, E. Rice (accepted); No. 7 contract, lOd per yard, T. Jones (accepted); Fitzgerald and Kempthorne, Is per yard (declined). The Board unanimously agreed with the view taken by the Piako County Council on tho motion trt raise Dr. salary by the Hospital Board, and also endorsed the statements made in a letter in The Waikato Times signed "A Member of the Board "in reply to Mr Rothwell's prevarications. Two small accounts were passed for payment and the Board rose.
