[by telegraph.—press association 1. Wellington, Monday. John Mooke, a child two years and nine months old, son of a farmer at Makikihi, was drowned to-day in swme sheep dip, near the residence. The proposed rifle match between members of the Australasian Parliaments has been fixed to take place on Thursday, the 29th hist. The conditions are : Seven men aside, seven shots each, at 400, 500 and GOO yards, Martini-Henry rifles, Wimbledon targets and system of scoring. The competing teams will represent South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and New Zealand. The marksmen of the New Zealand Parliament have been practising assiduously at the Polhill Gully Range for several weeks past, but tho team to take part has not yet been chosen.
