The Chancellor of the diocese of Winchester has given the following opinion as to the use of the burial oifbn at funerals by cremation : " In my view the .service may properly bo read after cremation, ns old Christian services for the dead mijjlit bo over the ashes of martyrs who had been burned, at the time of burying the ashes; but I think it should not be the prelude to tho cremation.' .
In ii parish in Perthshire a young woman once went to join the Church. She hud never been to school, and could not say the Shorter Catechism.
