MASQUERADE SKATING CARNIVAL
Tub masquerade carnival at tho Acme skating rink hist night was not as well patronised by either rinkeis or tho general public as the previous carnivals havo been. Some few of tho rinkors were attired in fancy dress and masked, but many familiar forms wore conspicuous by- tlioir absence. Owing to tho paucity of. attendance the grand march had tn bo abandoned, but some of tho trick skating, especially that by "a duke," was very entertaining. At half-past nine skating ceased and dancing was kept up with spirit for a couple of hours. The following is a list of the co.-tumes:— Miss Alexander, Mary Queen of Scots ; Miss Knox, La Mascotte ; Miss Hope ami Mrs Fleming, Country Lasses; Messrs Kiidx, Buffoon ; Morgan and Gassidy, Ohaupo Footballers ; S. Mason, Jockey ; R. Parr, Tim Flaherty ; C. Lβ Quesne, King Taivhiao; .S. Stevens, "A Dake ;" Fleming, "Night;" and Flood, " Kaskowhiski."
