KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.
Tub usual monthly meeting of the Kirikiiiroa Road Board was held at the Waikiito County Oouncil Chambers at 2 p.m. V' sterday. There ware present: Messrs Primrose (chairman), Maclean and Edmonds. Tho iijinut j s of the last meeting wore c mh'rnicd and tho outward correspondence w.is read aud adopted. FiN'ANCi;. —The balance-sheet of tho Board funds having been received from tho Audi'-or. certified to as correct, was read by the Clerk aud signed by the Chairman.— Tho Clerk reported that tho Board's funds at date are £11)3 fls 2d in denit. Under the new valuation which is £31,700 less than the last oi>.e, tho rates available would bn tMS-l 4s2J, which including i!2O 3s (id unpaid back rates would give income for the present yearas £30-17s Sd. After paying oIF the present debit balance the amount available for the year would be .£340 18s (id. Exotxkku's RicroivL , .—The engineer's re-p-irt winch was presented at the July meeting of the Board ami which was published i.i our ii-sue wf July t!th was read. A further c imuiuiiicatiim was received from Mr Sandes enclosing a copy of a letter from him to Messrs Crosby, Bros., terminating their contract in one month from date of notice in accordance with specifications, as the work on the roads had not been done to the satisfaction of tho B iard or of tho engineer and withholding the certificates for payment. Mr Crosby attended and asked for an explanation of the engineer's action. —The Chairman stated that to his own knowledge, the roads this season had been sadly negleclad, nothing being done to the wat'itables. The Board decided to uphold the action of their engineer.
CitosiiV Road.—A request was received from Messrs Crosby and Oliitty asking that the Road to Crosby's Gully be gravelled. The chairmiu s;iid that some work had been doiio on the mad. Mausuawhaua Koad. — Mr MoLaan reported that it wiis necessary to do some work on this road which was now almost impassable. He slid that tho best thins; to""' bs done was to deepen tho dram and throw the earth on the centre of the road. Ihe matter was held over until next meeting II vi-Ks —The clerk was instructed to sue ratepayers who are two years in arreas. Tkxdkus.— A tender wns read front Mr Grove Vowless for road maintenance, whic'a w;is received after the innet.inp in June when tiiP.se tenders were received and dealt with. There were only two tenders removed for tho work on the road between Tnupiri and Hiintly but as the Board considered them both't/jo neither were accepted.
