Hoine resumed at 7.'>o. 'In committee on the Representation Bill Sir George Grey moved an amendment to .-triko out l.lie .<(i.n fc title and insert the words '• Sli'iit tii.lo of this Act shall be an Act to suspend the operation of the Representative Act, 1887, and to limit each elector to one vote." He explained that no parly in the House had asked him to hiini; the amendment forward. He believed all their future prosperity depended uti the system of the "one man vote," and thought the House could do with a smaller number of members and four ministers were quite enough to carry on the business of the country. Mr Imsli supported the amendment. He felt the House had been guilty of a retrograde step in reducing the number uf members.
Mr Hislop contended the question of the reduction of members had been settled, and the Government took a firm stand in this matter, and could not,countenance any repeal of the Act. Messrs Seddun and Moss supported the amendment. At 10.10 the House rose till 10.00 next da v.
