The (iovernment intend to dispose of the surplus by giving grants and bonuses in en couragement of agricultural and wine industries, also to establish technical agricultural and military colleges, rabbit extermination and additioual grants to municipal bodies. Tea will be reduced a penny per lb, and coffee will come in free. Cereals will be increased to 3s per cental, and green fruit to 2s. The postage rales will be reduced to Id within the colony.
On the Budget speech the C->l"iiial Treasurer announced that duty on kerosc.no and cocoa had been abolished, the duty had been increased on eggs 2 1 pergro-s; jams and jollies, 2d to 3d per lb ; pulp Iruif, 2 1 per lb ; butter and ole > margarine, Is per lb; fruits and vegetables, pr.wrvtn!. 3! I'm 1 lb. There are also a number of other slight alterations which have in t yet Imvu indicated. The increase I<J i«y on cereals comes into operation on September Ist.
