The other inmates were got out with difficulty. Insurances were £500 on South British, CSOO in New Zealand, and £100 in Standard ; also on furniture and billiard table, £380 in Union and £350 in Standard. WANGANUI, Monday. At the 11.M. Court, to-day, Thomas Re id one of the wealthiest men here was charged with making a false Property-, tax return, having omitted £10,250 altogether. After taking the evidence of Mr Oombie, Deputy-Commissioner, Mr Brabant, R.M. inflicted a fine of £50 and treble tlie tax. WEST POET, Monday. The Labour Unionists reconsidered 'their decision to strike at the Cape Foulwind works, and went to work as usual. DUNKDIN, Monday. Patrick MoEldowncy was found dead in tlie harbour at about 5.30 o'clock yesterday morning. KEEVTON, Monday. The mines to-morrow pay an aggregate of £'1,650 sterling in dividends.
