ROYAL GRANTS.

On the rcc<immend;iti<ni of the committee appointed to enquire, into the subject of grants to the R >yal Family coining before the House of Commons to-day, Mr L iboiichoro moved that the funds at the disposal of the Queen were adequate for her grand children, and, if othonvise, economy should be made in respect to the household. The extreme Radical witig support Mr Labouchere, the majority of Parnellitcs support Mr Gladstone and Mr Smith in suggesting a compromise, Mr Morley moved an amendment that 110 further application be made. In the discussion in the House of Commons on grants to the lioyal Family, Mr Gladstone, in an eloquent speech, combatted the arguments of Mr Labouchere. He severely condemned the shabby attacks made on the civil list, and repudiated a microscopic inspection of the Queen's house hold expenses. A splendid court in a society like England was, he contended, a necessity. ___________
