NEWCASTLE ROAD BOARD.

TO TIIK KOITOK Sin,— Will you allow mo snaco to say to tliu Newcastle Road Board that the complaints which they speak of as to my displacing the timber on the culvert in cpies tion are false, as 1 was not within a mile of the place at the time, and consequently could neither have been done by mo or by my orders. Mr Dinsdale had charge of the engine, and, of course, when the said engine ;.'ot caught he had to get it out the best way ho could, and, I understand, it took him two hours with a timber jack to remove it. As to my being a member of the Board at the time, I trier! hard to get n new culvert put there, and the Chairman was authorised to see to it, and he had it in hand before the machine came to my place, but by somo of those acts of procrastination, known only to iio.ul Boards, it was neglected. My reason for troubling you is to let the public know that I am in no way responsible for the same. I take this opportunity of warning the Newcastle Road Board of the dangerous stale of the bridge over Blackwater Creek, at the other end of my farm, on the old Hamilton road. Your motto being " Ecpial and exact justice to all men," I trust you will excuse my troubling you.—l remain, yuurs respectfully, Thos. Rotuwki.i.. Whatawhab, 2lth July, 1889.
