HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Hamilton Domain B >ani was held in the Borough Council Chambers, at 7.30. p.m., on Tuesday. There were present: Messrs Coates (chairman), Salmon, Tippen, Wood, Bell, and Jones. The minutes of tho last meeting were read and confirmed. Skodos's Duain.—Tho Chairman said the Foreman of Works had not made any repiirton this drain at present, as there was too much water m it to inspect it properly. Tkaksfer.— Mr J. T. Home on behalf of Mrs T. Trewheellar, applied for the transfer of Lot No. IS, Domain Lands, to Mr Sylvester Davis. The request was gi anted on tho usual conditons re rents being complied with. Domain Drain'. — Mr G. Edgocumbe drew the attention of the Board to the amount of damage done by the drain near tho Hamilton West Cemotry, and stated that unless some remedial steps were taken the damage would largely increase. The matter was left in tho hands of the Chairman with power to act. Commonage Fencing.— The Chairman said that as there seemed t<» be a good deal of ill feeling against the sale of tho emumonago fences, he had withdrawn them from salo on Saturday. It would only bo a matter of time, for they would havo to be sold, or there would be none to soil, as they were entirely overgrown with furze, &c, and stood in danger of being burnt down. There was not a bit of D uiiain laud, ho said, enclosed by these fences, the land either being Borough endowments. Government or private land. —In accordance with notice given Mr Salmon moved that tho resolution re selling the commonage fences be rescinded.—Seconded by Mr Bell and carried, Messrs Tippen and Wood dissenting.—Mr Jones moved that tho fencing of both commonages, East and West, bo offered to the Council for commonage purposes, at a price to be mutually agreed upon.— Seconded by Mr Tippen and carried, Messrs 801 l and Wood dissenting. Rents.—The Clerk was requested to interview leesees who arc more than one year in arrears with their rents, and report at next meeting. Park Reserve.— Mr Bell drew the Board's attention to tho fact that some person or persons had been cutting and carting ti tree away from the Park Reserve, and also that the fencing wanted looking to. —The Secretary was instructed to keep the keys of all Domain property. This concluded tho business, and the Board rose.
