Thk monastery of JEellc, in Austria, has just celebrated the SOOth anniversary of its foundation. If a man should fall into one of the dynamite guns on the \esuvius he would slide about sixty feet and have to be blown out. Thk work of clearing away the snow from the streets in Uerlin during the winter cost the municipality about 500,000 marks, or £25,000.
