In the Legislative Assembly a Bill has been introduced to amend the divoree law, in a similar direction to that recently accepted by the Legislature of New Sou til Wales. The Executive Council of the Agricultural Education Society of Victoria has decided to scud to th<* New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition exhibits of oranges, lemons, olives and raisins. Adelaide, July 17. In the House last night Dr. Cockburii, the Premier, announced that the Government intended to pursue a stauuch policy of probation, and an extensive railway scheme would be proposed. Bills dealing liberally with both land and mining would be brought u-i. for discussion, and the Government intended to introduce a Bill providing free education ; provision, however, would be made for granting a subsidy of -10s per head to private schools for each child passing a compulsory standard.
