Auckland, Wednesday. J UDCE G il.Lins to-day in banco made an order granting Lanigan's application asking that the Harbour Board .should appoint an arbitrator to udjudicato on the mutters in dispute between them over the dock contract.
The Orlando sailed to-night on an extended course through the Islands. A mezzotint engraving by Hess of Guide's famous picture, "The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin," was hung in the Auckland Art Gallery to-day. J. C. Firth's property known as the Eight Hours Roller Mills is to bo sold by auction.
A puro bred .Shorthorn bull and six rams, one Leicester and five Southdown, are on the way to Canterbury on board the Duplicx, having been imported from England.
The Victoria Insurance Company gave a guarantee to the Thames Borough Council for the integrity of Dean, the missing Town Clerk.
