Tiik above Couneil met at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Present : The Mayor (Mr Clements), Os. I'riestly. Webber, .Ferguson, J billy, Richardson and Ijond. 'J.'he minutes of tin! previous special anil monthly meetings were read and confirmed. I'Ni'Aip Ratk.s. — Messis Whitaker awl Russell had given a verbal undertaking to the Clerk to pay the rates on Robinson's property, but the Couneil did not think that sullicient, and requested the Clerk to write, stating the amount must be paid within one week. Tut: Overdraft.— The Auditor-licneral wrote, stilting that' as the overdraft had been reduced to within the legal limits, In: had instructed the Crown Prosecutor (o stay proceedings. Iyakaimko Burnet: Path.—The Council having doubts as to the Karapiro bridge rate having benu properly struck had taken the opinion of Messrs Hesketh and Richmond, of Auckland, on the question. A reply had been received, stating that the subject was a dillicult one, and would require more time to consider. They, however, advised the Council not to collect the rate until they hear furl her from them. Accounts. —The following accounts were passed for payment :--Plaw and Coleman, i-i; I!)* I'd; W. K.
