A BRAVE WIFE.
ConstDF.iiAr.LK excitement has been cause in Turin by the arrest for murder of a lady well-known in Turin society, Mdme Dina, the wife of a banker. M. Dina has for some time been in ill-health, and in consequence conducted some of his banking business at hi 3 private residence. One evening last week, just at dusk, two well-dressed individuals, who gave their names as Gaglio and Tellio, called at the banker's house, and requested to sec him. Mdme. Dina explained to the men that her husband was confined to his bed, and unable to see anybody, but if they would explain their business to her she would convey a message to M. Dina. Gaglio thereupon presented an order from a banking firm in Paris for 20,000 francs, and his companion an order for GO,OOO francs from another French house, Mdme Dina was accustomed to transact similar business for her husband ; she did not suspect auything was wrong with the orders, but asked tho bearers to call the next morning for the money, as it was after banking hours. The two men refused to do this, saying that they must be paid on the spot. They then tried to force their way past into her husband's bedroom. Mdme. Dina fearing that the fright might kill the invalid, who was dangerously ill, took up a loaded revolver which M. Dina always kept in the house, hut as she fired it one of the ruffians knocked the pistol out of her haud and threw it out of the window. The brave woman then seized s dagger which hung in the hall as an ornament, and plunged it into the body of Gaglio. At that moment the occupiers of the flat above the Dinas, alarmed by the shot, rushed down stairs. The frightened servants opened the door, and Tellio took the opportunity that was offered to him to make his escape. Gaglio was so severely wounded that he died in a few minutes. It is stated that Mdme. Dina is arrested merely as a matter of form.
