Mr Solomon, chairman of the Benevolent Trustees, at a meeting to-day, drew attention to the increased cost to the city of Dunedin of charitable aid under the now Act, as compared with the cost under the old Act. Tlvi contribution paid by the city to the Charitable Aid Board was £1,73S ; under the new Act the expenses would be £>3.733, irrespective of the c >st of administration, being an increase of £1.904 per annum. \VELLINGTON", Wednesday. Allendale was found guilty of stealing the safe from the Fielding Post office and was sentenced to ten years penal servitude.
