SUPPOSED SUICIDE AT TAUPIRI.
Ykskbhday morning about S o'clock Mrs Taylor, of Taupiri, found her son, William Taylor, a young man, 23 years of age, lying on a couch in her house. He said that he had taken strychnine, and a paper labelled "Strychnine Poison" was found on the table near at hand. Mrs Taylor immediately gave him an emetic, after which he vomited and then died almost immediately. Dr. Murch was immediately telegraphed far, but on arrival about 11 o clock, could
only pronounce that life had been extinct for some time. Disappointment in love is supposed to have been the cause of the rash act. Deceased's
life was insured some two years back, but he had allowed the policy to lapse. The poison was procured from Mr R. P. Sandes, chemist, of Hamilton by deceased, who said he wanted to poison birds. The inquest will be held at 11 a.m. to-day.
