HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
A special meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers at 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening. There were present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr Isaac Coates), in tho chair, and Crs. Tippen, Salmon, Wood, Davey, Bell and Lees.
Rath. —The special business was to pass a resolution of the Council's intention to make a rate of Is in the £ for the year ending 31st March, 1890.—Cr. Tippen moved, "That the intention of the Council be publicly notified that a general rate of one shilling in the £ will be made on Tuesday, the ninth day of July, on all the ratable property within the Borough of Hamilton for the year ending 31st March, 18110, such rate to be payable in one sum on and after the 21st July, ISBO, and that the estimate for the year be approved."— Seconded by Cr. Lees.—Cr. Bell moved as an amendment that tho rate be Is 3d in the £. Seconded by tho Mayor pro forma.— The amendment was put and lost, the voting being -For: the Mayor and Cr. Bell; against: Crs. Tippan, Sain o.i, Wood, Davey, and Lees. The original motion was then put and carried, the voting being vice versa.
Waoks.—Cr. Salmon gave notice to move at next meeting of the Council, that on and after the oth of July, the wages of the Foreman of Works be 6a per day. This concluded the business, and tho Council rose.
