ADMISSION OF STRANGERS TO FORTIFIED STATIONS.
An army order has been issued regulat. tin" the admission of strangers to all national defeuces,position-finding stations and submarine mining and torpedo establishments. It states :—" No one will be allowed to inspect or enter any of the above without an order of admission from the general or other officer commanding the district or fortress, who is responsible that no unauthorised persons gain admittance, or have opportunities of inspection from the outside. Orders for admission will only be issued to officers, non-com-missioned officers, and men of the British army and navy when duty requires them to enter the defences or establishments, or when residence within obliges them to pass from and to such defences, and to such civilians only in the employment of the State as are required to do so for the public service. In (he case of defences occupied as barracks by troops aud their families, the general or officer commandiiiir will use his discretion as to the ad mis-ion of British subjects who have occasion to visit the military occupant*. When, however, such works are of a nature to render it desirable to keep theic construction unknown, that consideration must bo paramount.
