LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS
(by telegraph.—own correspondent.) Auckland, Monday. The Government have resolved to enter proceedings against Franklin, the driver of the waggon which was run over at the Railway crossing, at Ellerslie. The Chamber of Commerce at a meeting to-day, at which the Auckland members were present, resolved that the members should support tho 'Frisco service, that they should oppose further borrowing, and that unexpended monies voted for the extension of the Auckland railway should be expended to tho extent of such votes with all possible dispatch. The City Hall has been engaged for a sermon by Dr. Macgregor, of Edinburgh, on Wednesday next. There are no signs of the_ Alameda yet with the outward 'Frisco mails, she is supposed to have encountered severe weather.
