Ocu Rotorua c irrespondent send us the following Perhaps it is not generally known that a deputation of Maori chiefs waited on Te Kooti at his Waikato settle ment, Otewa, one week after he was released from Mount Eden gaol, and asked him if he wished any of them to take up anns and demand a redress from tho Government for the insult he had received through being imprisoned. But this noble fellow told him that our Saviour was imprisoned, and he was sent here in his place ; he must expect to be persecuted until death, and now Himiona te Orinui, prophet of Maketu and this noble predecessor of Jack - the - Ripper, together with all their followers, are to meet at Whakatane on the Ist July, ing to open a large carved house that is being built there, llow will this effect the bondsmen who went security for him ?
