A VRKY successful concert and dance was given in the Ohanpo Public Hall, on Wednesday evening lasr, when notwithstanding the unfavorable state of the weather there was a good attendance. Father Luck occupied the chair and opened the proceedings with a few words of welcome. The first part of the programme consisted of the following vocal solus, duets, &c, which were all rendered in a pleasing manner, perhaps the most noticeable being the solo " Ora, Pro Norbis," by Mrs C. The second part of the programme consisted of the comedy " Poor Pillicoddy," the parts being taken as follows; Poor Pillicoddy, Mr T. Prince; Mrs Pillicoddy, Miss Empen; Captain O'Scuttle, Mr Richard Hears ; Mrs O'Seuttle, Miss Kriupner ; and Sarah, Mr W. Aitken. All the performers acted their parts in a way that was very creditable and gave great satisfaction to an appreciative audience. The evening's entertainment concluded with a dance, which was kept up with great spirit, until near the " Breaking of the Day." The proceeds, which we believo amounted to about £14, will be devoted to the purchase of a harmonium for St. James church, Ohaupo.
