FLOODS IN VICTORIA.
LOSS OF LIFE.
(BY ELECTRIC TEIEGUAI'ir. —COPYRIGHT). Mkujoukn'k, June 14. Heavy rains have fallen, and floods, with great damage to property, are reported from all parts of the colony. At Avoca the residents had to leave their house?, and at Ohiltern a large quantity of stock has been drowned. The Murray overflowed its banks at Wanonga, submerging a large tract of country. The inhabitants of Bowendala were rescued in boats, and at Klinora a buggy was washed away, and two young ladies, named Miss Powell and Miss Lalpin, were drowned. The Gnilford, Newstead, Bat'inghup and Casilemaine districts are under water. So far as can bo judged from the reports to hand, the floods are the worst since 1870. HoiiABT, June 14. A heavy gale is raging, and vessels in the harbour ate in jeopardy. Tho barque Natal Queen broke from her moorings, but was recovered before any damage was done The. Rotoinahana had to leave, and in fact the gale and heavy fluids aro general, and the lower part of Hobart is threatened with inundation.
