THE WEATHER.

Capt. McPherson writes as Follows :—I see by Tuesday's paper that Mr Logie reports his barometer at 25'75 on Saturday. Mine, a very good aneroid, went down to 28"55. On no previous occasion has it gotio below 2!), excopt once, when it registered 00. I have never heard of the barometer being as low as above quoted.

Raglan. .During the last month wo ha.e experienced rather severe weather. For the first half of that period easterly winds prevailorj, with, at times, very cold weather. One day snow was seen on the inland slopes of Karioi. Towards Friday tho wind seemed to be going more round to the north and north-west, and the glass came down very rapidly, registering tho lowest point I ever remember seeing it at—below 2S at stormy. The wind increased in violence as it vered round to the north - west and west. The sea, during the easterly weather, had been very smooth, and tho bar without a ripple, but it has now become one mass of foam and breakers, and dashing in fury upon the rock-bound coast of Karioi, and up the coast to the Waikato Heads. Seagulls have come in land in large quantities, and there is no appearance of tho storm abating, although the barometer rose gradually on Sunday. The s.s. Garloch is unable to get out, as the bar is one continued break right across. Indeed she could not get into the Manakau, in all probability, even if she tried.— Own Correspondent,) [by telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Wednesday. A sudden change in the weather has sot in this morning, and it is now cold and raining heavily from the South.
