TE AROHA

Domain BoAur.—The monthly meeting of this Board took place on Saturday evening. Present: Messrs Gavin (chairman), Lipsey, Ahier, and Wilson. The minutes of the last and a special meeting were read and adopted. The monthly financial statement was read, showing, after paying all liabilities, a credit balance of £30 (is 4d. Accounts amounting to about £20, including £10 10s for an advertisement at the Auckland railway station were, on the motion of Mr Ahier, seconded by Mr Wilson, passed for payment. A somewhat lengthy report from the engineer, Mr Purchas, was read, wherein certain improvements, etc., to some of the baths and suggestions re the bowling green, wera made. Some of the suggestions, the report stated, might be carried out, but the want of funds made them impossible at present. Mr Lipsey thought that the engineer was not asked to give his opinion whether or not they were in funds, or where they were to find them:—You ask a man to do a certain thing, and that's all he has to do. Mr Ahier thought it was very wrong of the engineer to suppose that their means are limited. Mr Wilson was of opinion that the bowling green should bo seen to at once, and the chairman was of the same opinion, but tluu.ght they should do the work as the money accumulated for it. The work of No. G bath, at a probable cost of £10, was one of urgency. Mr Wilson moved that the works proposed by Mr Purchas of carrying water to No. (J bath bo carried through as soon as possible, to which was added, on the suggestion of Mr Lipsey, "and that the successful tenderer on a former occasion for the same work, ke communicated with, and in the of liis not accepting the work now for the amount he tendered for, the chairman be authorised to [call for fresh tenders at an early date."—Seconded by Mr Ahier, and carried. —Mr Lipsey proposed that the bowling should be put in grass as early as possible. Mr Ahier thought it was necessary, as many people whwn he had met, considered its present aspept an eyesore. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman to see to. Resolutions, to have the big trees in front of the domain (facing the street) cut down, and to have part of the front fencing raised to the grade of the footpath, were carried. This being all the business the meeting terminated. Nmv Building.— I Tenders wore opened on Saturday, for the erection of a live-roomed residence (34ft. square) for Mr A. W, Edwards, draper. The following are the tenders :—J as. Mills, £21.9; West, £217 ; Heathcote, £107 !)s (accepted.)
