Mei.hockne, May 30. At a bull at Julupua West last night two of the party, named Fitzpatriok and Richardson, quarrelled, and a struggle ensued, during which Fitzpatriok fell dead. May 31. In the match against South Melbourne the Maori football t'.-am won by six goals and six behind* to four goals and thirteen behiinls. Mr J. Nimmo, Commissioner of Public Works, has retigned his seat in the Cabinet and will be succeeded by Mr D. M. Davis who now holds the portfolio without office. John Anglin, who on the 27th December after breaking his brother-in-law's arm and firing twice at his wife, of whom he was absurdly jealous, and killing her, has been sentenced to death. Phillip Plaistod, the well-known organist, who murdered his wife by cutting her throat on the 10th May, is now hopelessly iusane,and has been committed to the asylum. The mother of Fit/.patrick, who fell dead whilst fighting with another man named Richardson, at Julupua West on Wednesday night, has died from the shock of her sou's death. At the inquest on the body of Fitzpatriok, the jury returned a verdict that death was caused by excitement. Sydney, May 30. Immense damage has been done by the floods in the town of West Maitlaud. Twenty thousand bags of cereals, chiclly shipments from New Zealand and Victoria, were damaged by flood water. Later. The floods at Maitlaud are subsiding. One of the rescue boats capsized, ami a Miss Fleming was drowned. The deliveries for the week include six hundred and ninety-six tons of wlieit from New Zealand, two hundred and twenty-eight tons of flour from Victoria and South Australia.
