Although he held the position of treasurer he knew nothing about the books and payments out of the League's fund, and doubted if the books produced were genuine. Coughlin, the ex-detective, is charged with the murder of Dr. Cronin, and McGeehan aud Sullivan with abetting. Chicago, May 29. WoodnifFe, one of the men charged with the murder of Dr. Cronin, has confessed, and implicates several others. London, May 30. Sir 11. E. Webster, Attorney-General, has been banquetted by the profession, and presented with an address signed by 0000 solicitors. It is stated that an allusion made by Major Le Caron to Dr. Cronin when giving evidence before the Paniell Commissioners led to the Clan-na-Gael, trying the latter on a charge of treachery. About a dozen were implicated in the charge, and the sentence of the society was that they should be murdered.
