At the private salo at Pnkekohe, satisfactory prices were obtained, daiiy cows being in demand at higher values. At Rcmuera on Thursday dairy cattle at their profit were required at full values ; store cattle also sold more freely. l''at cattle wore in short supply ; heavy oxen at lower values, but cows and liclit weight steers tirm at late quotations. Sheep, in full number, were slightly lower in price. Calves plentiful and of good quality sold fairly well. Pigs abundant; well-bred pigs, both fat and store, were in demand at satisfactory prices, but coarse pigs at conclusion of sale were of very low values. Wool, hides, skins, etc. : There was an averagu supply of hides and skins at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, but no wool. Tho demand continued brisk, and there remained an unsatislied demand for heavy ox hides, which we quote at 5 1 per lb; medium, 3d to 3pd ; cow, 2 : td to 3J<d per lb ; calfskins, 3d to 5d per lb ; sheepskins, 2s 2J to os !)d each: pelts, lid to Is 111; tallow, 10s (id to 14< (id per cwt. Cattle : The demand has been less active for all descriptions, and the supply has been over the average. Consequently prices receded, particularly for inferior dairy cows, and insufficiently fattened butchers' beasts. A good many fat and dairy cattlo were yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday. Bidding was brisk for really good dairy cows, but was slow for old and poorly-bred cows. Very few stores were yarded, Lint sufficient for requirements. Fat. be ists wore numerically large, but tho principal proportion of them were not in anything like prime condition. Competition was brisk for top sorts, but for canning was weak.
