MELBOURNE GRAIN MARKET. The New Zealand L >an anil Mercantile Agency report, under date Melbourne, Ist May Splendid rains have fallen throughout the colony since our last monthly report, and the, genial weather which followed lias enabled farmers to push on with their ploughing and sccdinir. The early-sown crops in the northern districts are already beginning to make considerable progress, and although frosts are mentioned still the warm days and moist condition of the soil tends to make vegetation rapid. Altogether the outlook, both in Victoria and the adjoining colonies, is most satisfactory, whilst the rainfall in South Australia is a.l- - unprejedented, and tills will thourntighly saturate the subsi.il, an event which has not occurred for many years. The course of the who it market during the month has not shown much alteration, prices being well sustained as a whole, though not on a pir w.lh '.ho-e realized immediately af ; • e (he pab.ii; itioii of the Agiieultmal S' ill-ties, As-.M'o:n.: that the H.-a- -.ast-i tV- wli-at vs.-M, n« :;ivcn in 1i iim-'ut i efuni, him (.-'rivet, we hi r: : ■aI v e 'pe .T.r -ui p'.iis, and for ! i.t- bdioeeol 11;.' yon wii!h:ive to draw I >1- ,n k;.!« f'.-i.i the mii plus we it ii i.-! 1.. .v.p.l l.viS.
