The Waikulo Timss OJice, Monday, WAIKATO LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mi: .f. MeNicoi, Rki'ORTS :—At Ohaupo, on Tuesday last, few cattle of any class were yarded. All sold at an advance. .Dairy cows at from L' 3 5s to £4 10s ; calves, mixed sexes, 8s to I Is each ; yearling steers, 32s (id ; ditto, heifers, 12s to 17s ; two year old steers, £2; small turnip steers, 2.1 to 3-year-old, at £2 (is to £3. No big steers olfered. Eat cows, f i on £2 Tsj lo £-1 l!a ; fat wethers, Us (i 1 ; merino eu'e.< in lamb, 5s 3d. Air Rutherford's clearing Bale, conducted by Mr Hunter in conjunction with myself, was well attended by buyers fr«m all parts of the district, anil good prices were realised throughout, except for sonic of the young horse stock, which are at present uns doable. At Hamilton on Thursday, few cattle were yarded, but nearly all sold at Ohaupo prices. At Waitoa, on Friday, the yards were filled, and nearly all sold at a shado under Ohaupo values. Eat heifers, £2 os to £2 7s (id ; fat cows, £3 ; fat steers, £•1 2s 6d ; 20 turnip steers averaged £3 Kis ; small ditto, £2 12s fid ; strong calves, Us ; dairy cows, £4 5s to £4 15s. No sheep sold.
AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKETS. Ma Alkx. Aitkkn's Market Rkport for the week ending May 11. —A good amount of business has been done during the week, although Friday's sale was considerably affected by the bad weather. Fowls were in much smaller supply than usual, and prices were slightly better. Ducks were in short supply. Pigs, but few came to hand, but for these good prices were obtained. Potatoes have come to hand in smaller quantity, but stocks are still large; demand is easier, but values are unchanged. Onions are still scarce and commanding good prices. Oats move off freely at late values. Fowl wheat in good demand, but milling lots are quiet, with slightly downward tendency. Maize unaltered. Bran and sharps unchanged. Bacon and hams — supplies of local cure are on the increare, and the demand is still g>od : Southern lots are slow of sale. Fresh butter : The supply has been the largest received for several weeks, and values have risen considerably. Eggs are also in good supply, and considerable rise in value. Cornell butter is coming to hand freely, but sales are not being pushed ; local demand is for second-class only; prime quality is held for export orders. Cheese: Really good is in demand, but inferior hard to quit. Honey in fair demand. In fruit, supplies have not been so large in any kinds, except in Napoleon pears, which were very plentiful ; dessert pears have sold well. Dead rabbits in good .supply ; satisfactory prices obtained. Thrju produce sales held this week; all with satisfactory results at the above quotations :—l'o-ir and old fowls, lOd to ltd ; fair lots, Is to Is 4d ; in condition, Is (id to Is lOd ; docks, Is 3d to Is 3d ; turkeys, 3s 4d to 3s Jod;.small, 2s to 3s. Potatoes: Best Waikato lots, £4 to £1 10s ; poor, £3 to £3 10s. Onions, in sacks, lfd ; bags, 2d ; carrots, 2s to 2-! (id. Oats, short, 2s 3d to os ; Danish, 2s fid to 2s fid. SYDNKY FRUIT MARKHT. Mr W. Prasor Martin writes undor date April liii: —Just a line in a hurry. Cood small green-packed apples in better demand. I fancy it will pay to send quantities from tins out, if you can gat fanners to ship direct on trial, and pack them well, but greener than usual or before. Onions easier, 13s to 14s, but me thinks onions will rule higher this winter. .Rye seed scarce ; just now up to ss. Also Tartarian white .seed oats ;upto 3s (id. Wheat, dull; Is 9d to -Is lid; a glut on, Butter, imported, low yet ; will be higher ore long.
