His accomplice, a man named Scott, has al3o been arrested. May 3. Captain Einorsou and two seamen belonging to the steamer Lark were drowned at Cairns, by the capsizing of a boat. Melbourne, May 2. The statistical authorities have not quite made up their minds whether the surplus wheat available for export has already left the colony or not. Millers are declining to pay the price asked for wheat, and many mills are, consequently, running on short time. The Age considers the balance remaining of the new crop is nominally 1700 tons, but says that a considerable quantity of old wheat having been brought forward, there is little danger of absolute scarcity. The Argus, on the other hand, estimates that there will be 26,000 tons of wheat available for shipment. Adelaide, May 3. Information has been received from Mauritius to the cllcct that the sugar prospects this season are simply magnificent, and it is confidently expected the highest average ever touched will be topped.
