Thk annual meeting of householders took place in the sohool-room on the 23rd. Mr Jesse Sago took the chair. Mr Roberts (chairman of the outgoing committee) read the report, showing a balance to credit of VI 18s ~d including a special gift of £3 3s 7d which was to ba expended in purchasing books for the school library. Mr Roberts explained he had not been in office as chairman fur long and had not written out any report on the state of the school. The chairman said there should be a report by the outgoing chairman, the meeting could not go en without it, they had better adjourn. Mr,). U. Hill aHd others objepted to this. A somewhat aorii})onjoi)s dispute then took place between the chairman, Mr Sinden, and Mr Roberts, eventually it was decided to go on with the meeting, Mr Sinden made a number of serious comulaints against the schoolmaster (Captain Hearn) whom lie accused of incapacity, and expressed his displeasure of the committee. Ho also questioned certain items in tho accounts. After some cjiscutisiqti ihe acgot)i)(;s <js read ' were passed. Thirteen names were hauded in for election, and the voting resulted as follows': — Roberts, 24; G. Harper, 2-1; J. i). Hill, 14: J. Sage, 12 : T.
